Traditionally, the Mint Julep is THE drink for the Kentucky Derby. Woodford Reserve has concocted a new Derby drink for fans to try. What is it called? What is in the drink?
In the traditional Mint Julep, fans will find bourbon, sugar, water, crushed or shaved ice, and fresh mint. This has been the drink for Derby goers for many many years.
However, Woodford Reserve has just released a new drink that may have fans trying something new this year. It is called the Woodford Spire.
This drink consists of:
- 1 1/2 ounces Woodford Reserve Bourbon
- 2 oz. Lemonade
- 1 oz. Cranberry Juice
- Crushed Ice
- Lemon Twist, for garnish
Instructions say to combine the bourbon, lemonade, and cranberry juice in a rocks glass filled with ice. Stir the mixture and garnish with the lemon twist.
This is definitely something to keep your eye out for on May 4th for the 145th Kentucky Derby.
