An Underdog In The Forbes Best American Whiskey List

A few days ago, Forbes came out with their list of best American Whiskeys in 2018. There were fifteen total bourbons being tasted for this coveted list, but not everyone would make it to the top 5.

In the past, big bourbon distilleries got the honors of being top 5, leaving your craft whiskey brands on the outs. Times have changed giving the craft distillers and blenders a chance to win that top 5 ranking.

Today, smaller distilleries are given the opportunity to be ranked or even become #1 in lists such as this one. Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co is one of those small distilling companies. Based out of Louisville, KY they were given the ranking of #4.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co began in Henderson, KY and later moved to Louisville, KY. Through the early 1920s, the Peerless federally-bonded warehouses were used for whiskey storage under the armed protection of the U.S. Government. During Prohibition, Peerless product was one of the few available by prescription for medicinal use.

The Peerless distillery has become a state-of-the-art facility with cutting-edge technology. This technology has made it one of the most automated distilleries. The select Kentucky Peerless grains are milled, cooked, fermented, double-distilled and barreled as bourbon & rye whiskey.
